The four Broncos on the Cal Poly Pomona 4x400-meter relay team have been chosen as this week’s FloCollege/CCAA Track Athletes of the Week after setting two records.

The relay team of Camden Patterson, Leroy Crook, Joshua Morinaga, and Alessio Sommacal clocked in at 3:09.43 on Saturday, breaking a 34-year old school record and a 15-year old meet record at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.

The time, which surpassed the NCAA provisional qualifying time by nearly four seconds, is the fastest in the CCAA and the fourth best in Division II.

This is just the second time that a relay team has won the weekly athletes of the week award. This is also Sommacal third time earning the award.  Click here to see the complete list of CCAA Track & Field weekly award winners.

Cal Poly Pomona will compete in the Mt. SAC Relays this week, beginning on Thursday.
