SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team hoisted the CCAA Tournament Championship trophy for the first time since 2015 with a 77-54 win over Cal Poly Pomona.

Nala Williams had 16 points to lead four Toros in double-figures. She added six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Cristina Jones recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Eight of those boards came on the offensive glass as she helped the Toros outscore the Broncos 42-22 on points in the paint.

Tournament MVP Asia Jordan added 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting. She also had seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Joe'l Benoit came off the bench to score 10, and Devon Lewis paced the team with six assists.

Sydney Nelson led Cal Poly Pomona with 25 points. She made half her shots from the field (7-of-14) and went 11-of-12 at the free throw line. The sophomore finished with a tournament-best 54 points over two games. She was the only Bronco to record double-figures in points.

Cal State Dominguez Hills never trailed in the game. CSUDH went in front 11-4 in the first three minutes and led 15-10 at the end of the first quarter. The Toros put up 26 points in the second quarter to extend their lead to 41-25 as they took a 16-point lead into halftime.

A pair of free throws by CPP's Kalaya Buggs would cut Cal State Dominguez Hills' lead to 46-33 midway through the quarter, but the Broncos would not get closer as the Toros shot .462 percent the rest of the way.

Benoit's 10 points off the bench led CSUDH. She was one of six student-athletes who did not start to score as the Toros' bench would outscore the Broncos 27-9. CSUDH also won the turnover battle 26-17. CSUDH's defense forced its opponents into 61 turnovers in two games.

Asia Jordan was joined on the CCAA All-Tournament Team by Nala Williams (CSUDH), Cristine Jones (CSUDH), Sydney Nelson (CPP), and Jayme Blackard (SSU).

Cal State Dominguez Hills earns the CCAA's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA West Regional, which begins Friday, March 14. The Toros were ranked No. 1 in the last regional poll.
