SAN MARCOS, Calif. – No. 1 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills overcame its lowest point total and shooting percentage of the season to earn a 56-45 win over No. 5 seed Sonoma State in the 2025 CCAA Women's Basketball Tournament semifinals.

Neither team could find its rhythm offense throughout the game as both dealt with foul trouble. The game was tied 25-25 at the half with neither team shooting over .370 percent.

In the third quarter, CSUDH had the chance to break the game open as it forced 16 turnovers and held SSU to only three shots. However, the Toros were only able to put up 11 points in the quarter and had just a 36-32 lead heading into the final quarter.

A layup by Sydney Peterson would pull Sonoma State within two (38-36). The Toros answered with six straight points to take their largest lead at 44-36. A Sheriene Arikat 3-pointer with 3:28 left would get Sonoma back within three (46-43). However, SSU would go just 1-for-4 during the final stretch as the Toros completed the win at the free throw line.

Asia Jordan recorded a double-double for Cal State Dominguez Hills with 11 points and 12 rebounds (seven offensive). Cristina Jones led all student-athletes with 13 points. Jayme Blackard's 12 points paced the Seawolves.

CSUDH finished shooting .281 percent from the field but overcame its struggles by forcing 35 turnovers.

Cal State Dominguez Hills will play No. 2 seed Cal Poly Pomona for the 2025 CCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Championship on Saturday, March 8, at 8 p.m. The Toros are seeking their first CCAA Tournament title since winning back-to-back years in 2014 and 2015.
