Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Jay Ross was voted as the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week, for the week of March 24-30.
In six games, Ross batted .529 (9-for-17) with a .882 slugging percentage. She drove in five runs, scored nine times with three doubles and a home run. Ross also walked eight times for an on-base percentage of .680. In the four conference games against San Francisco State, where CSUDH won three games, Ross batted .636 (7-for-11) with five RBI, scored eight runs with two doubles and a walk-off dinger.
After walking three times in her first four at bats, the senior outfielder from Whittier hit a walk-off home run in the eighth inning of the series finale for the Toros’ 9-8 over SF State. The dramatic win helped secure the series three games to one. Ross had gone 3-for-3 earlier on Saturday in CSUDH’s 10-3 loss to the Gators. She had three hits, drove in three and scored three in Friday’s twinbill sweep by the Toros. In all, Ross extended her hitting streak to 11 games.
Ross is third in the CCAA in both on base percentage (.464) and runs scored (33). She’s seventh with a .373 batting average. Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard.
