Sonoma State’s Amari Houston continues offensive tear, earns another FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week award

For the second consecutive week Amari Houston of Sonoma State has earned the nod as the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week.

Houston continued her offensive tear with another big week at the plate and base paths. In four games, she batted .588 (10 for 17) with 1.000 slugging and .588 on base percentages to lead SSU to a 3-1 series win at Cal State San Bernardino. Houston had four more multi-hit games, drove in four runs and scored seven times with a double and two home runs. She also stole three bases.

The senior outfielder from Brentwood went 3-for-5 to help SSU win game one of the series, 8-7. In Friday’s nightcap, Houston homered twice to lead the Seawolves to a 5-1 win. She would go 2-for-4 in game one on Saturday (a 5-1 SSU win) before a 3-hit performance in the finale.

Houston has hit safely in six straight games and 10 of the last 11. In the last six games, she’s gone 14-for-25 with four three-hit games.

Houston is now fourth in the CCAA in both batting average (.424), slugging (.652) and OPS (1.111). Her .459 on base percentage is sixth best. She’s also tied for third with 16 stolen bases. Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard
