Cal Poly Pomona’s Kailen Smith has been chosen as the FloCollege/CCAA Field Athlete of the Week, for the week of March 17-23.

Smith won the high jump at the Jim Bush Legends Meet, hosted by UCLA on Saturday. He achieved a mark of 2.11 meters (6-foot-11), which is the top mark in the CCAA and second best in NCAA Division II. The mark surpassed the provisional qualifying mark of 2.05 meters.

The senior from Chino Hills, Calif., has won the high jump in two meets this spring. He won the event at the Rossi Relays on Feb. 22 as well. Smith was the 2022 CCAA champion and 2023 silver medalist in the high jump
