Amari Houston of Sonoma State hits and runs to win FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week award

Amari Houston of Sonoma State has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week, for the week of March 10-16, after an all-around offensive weekend.

Houston batted .667 (10 for 15) with a .933 slugging and .688 on base percentages for an OPS of 1.621 in four games against No. 17 Cal State San Marcos. She had two doubles and a triple and drove in six runs with four stolen bases. Houston had three or more hits in three of the four games.

The senior outfielder from Brentwood, Calif., opened the series with a 4-for-4, 3 RBI game in leading the Seawolves to a 10-0, five-inning shocker over the Cougars. Houston was a problem for CSUSM in every inning, starting with an RBI double in the first, followed by a triple in the second (she later scored in the inning). She also singled in a run in both the third and fourth innings in the shortened game. After going hitless in the second game, Houston returned with two 3-for-4 games with three stolen bases on Saturday. She drove in three runs in the twinbill.

Houston is among the CCAA leaders in a number of offensive categories, including eighth in batting average (.387), seventh in slugging (.573) and seventh in OPS (1.005). She’s also fifth with 13 stolen bases. Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard
