The defense has been the calling card for CSUDH all year, and it was on full display in this game. The Toros limited the Cougars to .340 percent shooting and 0-for-9 start to open the second half. During this six-minute field goal drought, Dominguez Hills went on a 15-2 run to extend its 10-point halftime lead (38-28) to 23 points (53-30) late in the third quarter. APU would get its deficit back to 14 with 54 seconds remaining in the third quarter, but it would get no closer the rest of the way.

Cal State Dominguez Hills also held PacWest Player of the Year Kelli Heimburger to just 12 points on 3-of-14 shooting. She tied for the team lead in scoring, along with Lauren Jones.

The Toros will take on GNAC Champions Alaska Anchorage in the NCAA West Regional semifinal on Saturday, Mar. 15, at 7:30 p.m.
