Nala Williams was voted the D2 CCA West Region Women's Basketball Player of the Year, and her teammate
Asia Jordan was named second team all-region.
Nala Williams was the 2024-25 CCAA Player of the Year and the CCAA Defensive Player of the Year. She led the nation in steals (131) and ranked fourth in the region (first in CCAA) with 17.4 points per game. The junior guard also ranked in the top 10 in the West Region in assists per game (t-sixth, 4.2), field goal percentage (ninth, .455), 3-point percentage (fourth, .402), and total field goals made (first, 214). She scored 20 more points in 14 games and helped the Toros begin the season at 28-0 while climbing as high as No. 2 in the national rankings.
Asia Jordan averaged 12.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game to help Cal State Dominguez Hills post a 31-1 record heading into NCAA postseason play. The senior forward was named the CCAA Tournament's Most Valuable Player after leading CSUDH to its first CCAA Tournament Championship since 2015. She had five double-doubles and was voted to the All-CCAA first team for the fourth consecutive season.
Williams was joined on the All-West Region first team by PacWest Player of the Year
Kelly Heimburger (Azusa Pacific), GNAC Player of the Year
Sunny Huerta (Central Washington), and Alaska Anchorage's duo of
Emilia Long and
Tori Hollingshead.
Dyauni Boyce (Montana State Billings),
Asher Cai (Central Washington),
Alli McDonald (Point Loma), and
Sophia Wisotzki (Simon Fraser) joined Jordan on the second team.
The D2 CCA Player of the Year award and all-region teams are nominated and selected by members of the region's athletics communications staff. The D2 CCA encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of high education. The D2 CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies, and regulations that impact NCAA Division II athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
The five members of the All-West Region First Team will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released Tuesday, March 25.
