Chico State's Evan Tomlinson was selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association as the West Region Pitcher of the Week for the first week of the 2025 season.
 
Tomlinson pitched six shutout innings against No. 5 Point Loma to earn the win and give Chico State the series victory over the nationally ranked team. Tomlinson struck out three and allowed just five runners to reach (three hits and two walks). No one advanced past second base in his outing.
 
Chico State will return home to host Northwest Nazarene in a three-game set starting on Friday, Feb. 7.
