Sonoma State’s Charlie Johnson tossed two gems to earn this week’s FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors.
Johnson started in two games and threw two complete games without yielding an earned run to lead the Seawolves at Stanislaus State’s Tournament of Champions in Turlock. In 12 innings, she allowed 11 hits, but did not allow an earned run to record two wins. Johnson struck out five and walked four and hit a batter.
Against Vanguard on Friday, the junior righty pitched seven innings and gave up one unearned run on six hits to lead SSU to the narrow 2-1 win. Johnson struck out three and walked two in that outing. On Saturday versus Saint Martin’s, the Rancho Bernardo product only needed to throw five innings in the team’s 10-2 mercy rule win. Johnson allowed five hits and two unearned runs in that contest.
Johnson currently leads the CCAA in innings pitched (46) and shares the lead with five wins.
