Cal Poly Humboldt’s Alyssa Smokey has been chosen as the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week after leading her team to a successful trip to Hawai’i.
Smokey batted .577 with a .846 slugging percentage in eight games, posting a 1.439 OPS as the Lumberjacks went 6-2 against #22 Lewis, Ferris State, Chaminade, Hawaii Pacific and Hawaii Hilo in games played on the island of Oahu. The designated player/pitcher had a dominant offensive week, going 15-for-26 with seven doubles, drove in 14 runs and scored nine times. She reached base 17 times in eight games for a .593 on-base percentage.
The senior from Gardenville, Nev., went 3-for-4, with three doubles and drove in six runs against Chaminade in game one on Friday before going 7-for-9 with 9 RBI in the twinbill. She also went 2-for-2 in the team’s 10-0 upset win over No. 22 Lewis to start the trip on Feb. 4. In the circle, she also went 2-0 with 12 strikeouts in 16 innings. She did allow five earned runs and yielded 13 hits.
Currently, Smokey leads the CCAA in batting average (.577), seven doubles, 14 runs batted in and is second in on-base percentage (.593) and OPS (1.439).

This is Smokey’s second career CCAA Softball Player of the Week award. She won this weekly award on March 20, 2023 as a sophomore.
