Chico State returned to the winner's circle at the 2023 CCAA Championships and hoisted their 13th conference title in the last 15 seasons. The Wildcats carried that momentum to place third at the NCAA West Regional and earn an invitation to compete in the NCAA Championships. Chico will return five of its top six runners from its 2023 regional team.
Stanislaus State placed second at the CCAA Championships and ninth at the NCAA West Regional. The Warriors are expected to be led by two sophomores, Jacqueline Sanchez and Annie Wild, whom each earned All-CCAA honors last season.
The coaches are expecting
Cal Poly Pomona to be right back where it was in 2023; third place. The Broncos had their best CCAA finish since 2019 last season and carried that momentum into a sixth-place finish at the regional.
Cal State San Marcos has placed in the top 5 at the last three CCAA Championships, and it kept that run going with a fourth-place finish in 2023. The Cougars gained experience last season and will return 14 letterwinners.
Eight student-athletes will return for
Cal State East Bay this season. The Pioneers were picked one spot higher than where they finished at the 2023 CCAA Championships.
Sixth place was a tie between
Cal Poly Humboldt and
Cal State Monterey Bay with 55 points. CSUMB placed fifth at the 2023 CCAA Championships, and Humboldt finished ninth.
Cal State San Bernardino placed eighth last season and is picked to finish there again. They edged out
Sonoma State, who returns 2023 CCAA Individual Champion Gianna Bomarito, by one point (48-47 points). All-CCAA selection Anika Pettinger returns for
San Francisco State, which was picked to finish 10th.
Cal State LA completed the list (11).
The 2024 Cross Country seasons begin the weekend of Sept. 6-7. Sonoma State will host the Seawolf Invite at the site of the 2024 CCAA Championships, Woodward Park, on Sept. 7, and multiple CCAA teams are expecting to be there to open the season.
