800m performance earns CSUSM’s Nick Melanese CCAA Track Athlete of the Week Apr 9, 2024 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Cal State San Marcos’ Nick Melanese has been named the CCAA Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 1-7. The junior from Scripps Ranch posted an NCAA provisional time of 1:49.48 in the 800-meter run at the Triton Invite. It was his fastest time in the event this season by two seconds. His time ranks fourth nationally and is the fastest in the West Region. It was his second NCAA provisional of the season after earning one in the 1500-meter run two weeks ago (3:44.80).
