Toros' Jay Ross slugs her way to another CCAA Player of the Week award

Jay Ross of the Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team has been named the CCAA Player of the Week for the week of April 1-7. 

Ross led Cal State Dominguez Hills to three wins over San Francisco State, keeping the Toros second in the CCAA standings. The senior outfielder hit .538, going 7-for-13 with a .625 on-base percentage and .923 slugging percentage. She had two doubles, a home run, six RBI, and two runs scored. Ross reached base at least twice in all four games. 

In the second game of the series, the Whittier native had a two-run homer in the first inning and drove in two more with a double in the seventh to match a season-high with four RBI. She had another multi-RBI game on Saturday. 

Ross leads the CCAA with 47 hits and is second with a .420 batting average.  Click here to see the CCAA player leaderboard

This is the second CCAA Player of the Week award for Ross (Mar. 4). It is also the first time this season a team has earned both the CCAA Pitcher and Player of the Week awards in the same week. Click here to see the complete list of CCAA Softball weekly award winners.  

CSUDH will play six games against PacWest opponents this week while on their CCAA bye. It will host Concordia on Tuesday, April 9, before playing a split four-game series against Biola on April 11-13.
