National leader Alessio Sommacal earns CCAA Track Athlete of the Week Apr 16, 2024 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Alessio Sommacal of Cal Poly Pomona has been named the CCAA Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 8-14. Sommacal became the national leader in the 400-meter hurdles when he registered a time of 50.85 at the Bryan Clay Invitational. His time earned him an NCAA provisional qualifying standard and was the second-fastest in program history. His finish was the highest of any DII athlete at the Bryan Clay Invite, as he placed fourth in the 54-person field. The junior from Belluno, Italy, also collected an NCAA Provisional Standard in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.17.
