Chico State’s Marissa D’Atri had a career best weekend to capture this week’s CCAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, for the week of April 8-14.
D’Atri, a four-time CCAA champion, ran personal best times in both the 1500-meter run and the 3000-meter steeplechase at the highly competitive Bryan Clay Invitational. She earned a new NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 1500m, clocking in at 4:27.65. She improved her steeplechase time for the third consecutive race with a new PR of 10:08.68, bettering her qualifying position.
The senior from Martinez, who leads the conference in both events, is now the second fastest in Division II in steeplechase, behind only Gracie Hyde of Adams State — a transfer from Arkansa who won three titles in the Division II Indoor Championships in March. Hyde ran a 9:28.17 at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
