CSUSM’s Paige Donnelly slugs her way to third career CCAA Softball Player of the Week

Paige Donnelly of the Cal State San Marcos softball team has been selected as the CCAA Player of the Week. (April 8-14)

Donnelly hit .524 over a six-game week and helped lead the Cougars to three crucial wins over Cal State San Bernardino in a matchup between two teams in the top four of the CCAA standings. For the week, Donnelly collected 11 hits, including two doubles and a home run, drove in four runs, and scored three more. 

The junior first baseman had hits in all six games, including going 3-for-4 in the series finale, which put Cal State San Marcos a half-game ahead of CSUSB in the conference standings. 

Donnelly leads the No. 24 ranked CSUSM Cougars with a .368 batting average and 33 RBI. She has reached base safely in 21 consecutive games and is currently riding a 16-game hitting streak.  Click here to see the CCAA player leaderboard

This is Donnelly's first CCAA Player of the Week award in 2024 and the third of her career. She is the second Cougar to earn a Player of the Week honor this year, joining Madison Waymire (Feb. 5). Click here to see the complete list of CCAA Softball weekly award winners.  

Cal State San Marcos (26-17, 14-10 CCAA) will host Cal State East Bay (21-16, 13-13 CCAA) this weekend in the second-to-last regular season series of the year. CSUSM will host the CCAA Tournament on May 1-4. CCAA standings | CCAA Tournament Central
