Stanislaus State’s Sasha Martello named CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week

Stanislaus State’s Sasha Martello has been voted the CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of Feb. 26-Mar. 3. 

Martello picked up victories in both ends of the Warriors’ doubleheader sweep over rival Chico State. The junior right-hander pitched 7.2 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out one. 

She entered the first game in relief and went the final 2.2 innings, holding the Wildcats scoreless as her team scored in the bottom of the fifth to collect a 2-1 win. She also came into the game in relief in the nightcap. She went five innings to earn her fourth victory of the season.  

Martello leads the CCAA with 13 appearances. She is yet to walk a batter in her 45 innings in the circle, putting her tied for the top spot in the country. Click here to see the CCAA player leaderboard

This is the first career CCAA Pitcher of the Week honor for the Oxnard, Calif., native, and it is the first for a Stan State pitcher since Kyndra Marzorini in 2019. Click here to see the complete list of CCAA Softball weekly award winners.
