Mari Takeda Bajan’s 11-inning shutout earns her CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors

San Francisco State’s Mari Takeda Bajan has been named the CCAA Pitcher of the Week for March 4-10.

The junior right-hander helped lead her team to two extra-inning road wins against No. 7 Cal State San Marcos. She went 1-0 with a 0.43 ERA over 16.1 innings of work. Takeda Bajan gave up 16 hits but just one earned run (three unearned).

The San Jose native pitched 11 innings in a complete-game shutout against the defending regional champions. She threw 178 pitches in the 1-0 victory with seven strikeouts. 

In Friday’s contest, she started the game and worked through early trouble to keep her team in the game with 5.1 innings of work. The Gators would tie the game in the sixth and win it in the bottom of the 10th. 

The 11 innings pitched tie for the longest outing in the CCAA this season. Click here to see the CCAA player leaderboard.
