Skylar Linnane of Sonoma State made all of her hits count as she has been selected as the CCAA Softball Player of the Week, for the week of Feb. 19-25.
Linnane had three hits in the four-game series at Cal State San Marcos, but they were all key home runs as she lifted the Seawolves to a 3-1 series win over the No. 4 ranked Cougars. She went 3-for-12 with three homers and drove in eight runs to post a 1.000 slugging percentage. She also walked three times in her 15 plate appearances for a .400 on-base percentage.
The senior first baseman from El Dorado Hills hit a solo shot for SSU’s first run in the series opener loss 3-2. Linnane then added a grand slam bomb in Friday’s game two, helping the Seawolves erase a 7-run deficit en route to a 13-12 win. Her homer came in the sixth inning which made it a one-run game as SSU continued to rally with three runs in the seventh for the win. CSUSM had led 8-1 after four innings. Lianane’s third dinger came in the second inning of the finale as she gave the Seawolves a 3-0 lead it never relinquished.
Linnane is second in the conference with a .773 slugging percentage and she is third with a 1.202 OPS.
