[Meet results]

The second day of the 2023 CCAA Track & Field Championships wrapped up today with 11 student-athletes from five different schools taking home conference gold medals.
 
The last race of the day was the highlight on the track as Sonoma State's freshman Gianna Bomarito broke the CCAA meet record with a time of 34:40.57. Her time beat the old mark held by another Sonoma State student-athlete, Kathy Lenno (2001). Chico State's Hannah Tiffany also posted a time that topped the previous mark as she finished second in a time of 34:58.50.
 
After taking second in the discus yesterday, Cal Poly Pomona's Aaron May responded by capturing the title in the men's hammer throw. May won the event by over nine feet with a mark of 179-1 (54.60m).

In the combined events, Morgann Wilson of Cal State San Marcos edged defending champ Grace Kasberger by 15 points to captuer the Hepthathlon title. Gerwin DeHaan of Cal Poly Pomona is the 2023 decathlon champ.

Stanislaus State's Caitlyn Bell was the first student-athlete to claim two first-place medals. After winning the discus on Thursday, Bell returned with a victory in the women's hammer. The junior from Turlock threw 176-0 (53.65m) on her first attempt and went over 167-5 (51.03m) on all six tries. She was the only student-athlete in the field to eclipse the 50-meter mark. 
 
Cal Poly Pomona's men's team has built a 40-point lead over Chico State going into the finals (123-83). Chico State leads Cal Poly on the women's side 55-38.
 
Saturday will be the final day of the 2023 CCAA Track & Field Championships. Field events will start at Noon, with running events beginning at 2:05 p.m. The final day of the meet will be streamed live at CCAAnetwork.com.
