Cal State San Bernardino’s Journie Alexander has been named CCAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, for the week of April 17-23.

Alexander, along with her Yotes teammates, had a record setting day at the Chris Rinne Twilight at UC Riverside on Saturday. Alexander posted a provisional qualifying mark in the long jump and ran the first leg of the record-setting 4x100-meter relay team.

A sophomore from Vista, Alexander leapt a career best 5.97 meters (19 feet, 7 inches) in the long jump to set a new CSUSB record with the winning mark at UCR. She is now the CCAA leader (25th in NCAA Division II) in the event. She ran the first leg of the 4x100m relay team that posted a provisional qualifying time of 45.82 to win the event. The Yotes (with Hailey Hunt, Sariyah Copeland and Alexis White) set the new school and meet record and are currently ranked ninth in Division II.

This is Alexander’s second Athlete of the Week award selection. She picked up the weekly award on March 7.

Next on CSUSB’s schedule is the CCAA Track & Field Championships, May 4-6, in San Marcos.
