Cal State San Marcos' Paige Donnelly earns CCAA Softball Player of the Week honors Apr 24, 2023 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Cal State San Marcos’ Paige Donnelly has been voted the CCAA Player of the Week for the week of April 17-23. Donnelly hit .538 (7-for-13) with three doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, and four runs scored. The sophomore from Poway reached base at a .625 clip and slugged 1.231 as Cal State San Marcos took three of four games from Cal State Monterey Bay. The first baseman posted extra-base hits in all four contests and she had multiple RBIs in each of the first three games. In the series opener, Donnelly had two doubles and drove in three runs, but the Cougars lost. It would be their only loss of the series. Over the next three games, she hit .555 and helped lead the Cougars to three wins. She blasted a three-run homer in a 7-3 win in the nightcap the first day. She came back on Saturday and opened without making an out in the first game (two hits, two walks). She closed out the series by going 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, and a double. Donnelly is now fifth in the CCAA in batting average (.373) and third in both home runs (7) and runs batted in (31). She ranks fifth in on-base percentage (.490) and fourth in slugging (.636). This is Donnelly’s second CCAA Player of the Week honor in 2023. Cal State San Marcos will close out its regular-season schedule with a four-game set against Stanislaus State. The series will begin Friday, April. 28, in San Marcos.
