Caitlyn Bell of Stanislaus State had a busy couple of days at a home meet, earning her CCAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, for the week of April 3-9.
Bell placed in the top 10 in four events, including a victory in the hammer throw, at the Stan State Invitational last weekend. Bell threw the hammer 52.75 meters (173 feet, 1 inch) for an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Her personal best toss is now the second-best recorded in the CCAA this season, behind only teammate Alexis Garnica (54.89m).
The sophomore from Turlock also threw a career best in the javelin with a 35.29-meter mark for fifth place at the meet at Stan State. That javelin distance is the sixth best in the CCAA. Bell also placed fourth in the discus throw (39.91m) and 10th in the shot put (10.11m).
Stanislaus State will be at the Cal State LA Twilight starting on Thursday, as well as taking part at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday.
