Isable Perez-Zoghbi of Cal Poly Humboldt made a stellar debut to earn the honor as the CCAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, for the week of Feb. 27-March 5.
Perez-Zoghbi returned home to the Central Valley to win the 400-meter hurdles race at the Kim Duyst Invitational at Stanislaus State on Saturday. Her time of 1:01.76 is a NCAA championship provisional qualifier and the fastest time posted in Division II so far this season.
The freshman from Merced finished ahead of Chico State’s Chloe Taylor, the reigning CCAA champion in the event. Taylor was second in 1:03.10.
Perez-Zoghbi now has the third fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles in Lumberjacks’ program history.
Cal Poly Humboldt travels to Chico to compete in the Wildcat Invitational this weekend.
