Cal Poly Pomona’s Matteo Madrassi captures CCAA weekly honors with nation’s best pole vault mark Mar 7, 2023 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Cal Poly Pomona's Matteo Madrassi vaulted his way to the top spot in the nation and to CCAA Field Athlete of the Week honors after his outstanding performance last weekend at the Beach Opener. Madrassi cleared 16-8.75 (5.10m) in the pole vault to win the event against various Division I competitors and earn an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark. He cleared the height on his first attempt. The Udine, Italy native was the CCAA Pole Vault Champion last season and earned All-American honors with a seventh-place finish after clearing a personal record 17-0.75 (5.20m). Madrassi is the first Broncos' pole vaulter to win CCAA Field Athlete of the Week honors since the award was created in 2017. Cal Poly Pomona will complete in the Ben Brown Invite and the Astro Al Distance Carnival. The event is hosted by Cal State Fullerton.
