Cal State San Marcos’ Paige Donnelly was named the CCAA Softball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 27-Mar. 5.

The sophomore first baseman hit .600 with a .733 on-base percentage as the No. 5-ranked Cougars took three of four games against Chico State. Donnelly had two doubles, two home runs, five RBI, and scored five runs. In the four games, she made only four outs.

In Friday’s doubleheader, she recorded just one hit, but she reached base in five of her seven plate appearances as she drew four walks and was hit by a pitch.

In Saturday’s doubleheader, she was even better. The Poway native went 5-for-7 at the plate with two doubles, two home runs, and five RBI. She also crossed the plate four times. In the series finale, she was 3-of-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored.

This is the first career CCAA Player of the Week honor for the reigning CCAA Newcomer of the Year. Donnelly is the first Cougar hitter to earn CCAA Player of the Week honors since Gabriela Arizaga during this same week in 2017.

The Cougars will face one of their toughest tests of the season this weekend when they meet No. 19 ranked Sonoma State on the road beginning Friday, Mar. 10, at Noon.
