Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Ashley Wies was selected as the CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of Mar. 20-26.

Wies picked up a pair of wins over Cal State East Bay, tossing 14.0 innings with a 1.00 ERA in two complete games. She allowed just two earned runs and six hits while walking one and striking out 10. Opponents hit just .122 off her, and she allowed only one extra base hit.

In her first start Friday, Wies fanned six batters while making just one mistake. After that, she retired 12 of the final 13 batters she faced in a dominant win in which she allowed just three hits.

The next day she was even better, also scattering just three hits in the win, fanning four on just 81 total pitches. She retired the order in four of her seven frames, with the Pioneers scoring their only run after a Toro error.

The junior from Torrance is now ninth in the CCAA with a 1.83 earned run average. She is also eighth in WHIP (1.08) and fifth in appearances (19).

This is the fourth career CCAA Pitcher of the Week honro for Wies, and her first of 2023. She is the first Toro to receive the honor this season.

Wies and her teammates will play a pair of non-conference doubleheaders this weekend. They will host Biola on Friday and travel to Concordia on Saturday.
