Cal State LA’s Qwintin Workman named CCAA Track Athlete of the Week Mar 21, 2023 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Cal State LA’s Qwintin Workman was voted the CCAA Track Athlete of the Week after placing his name in the top 3 of two NCAA Performance lists. (Mar. 13-19) Workman posted NCAA Division II’s No. 1 time in the 400-meter hurdles at 51.02. The junior from Murrieta earned the NCAA Provisional Qualifying time at the Redlands Invitational. He won the event by over three seconds and now sits on top of the 2023 CCAA Performance List. Workman also collected an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Standard as part of the 4x400m relay team. He was the first runner on the relay team, along with Shannon Turner, Burrell Adams, and Leon Tafirenyika, which posted the nation’s third-fastest time of 3:13.60. This is the first career CCAA Track Athlete of the Week honor for Workman and the third of the season for the Golden Eagles. Workman joins fellow relay partner Leon Tafirenyika, who collected the award in back-to-back weeks (Feb. 28 & Mar. 14). Cal State LA has won three of the first five CCAA Field Athlete of the Week honors in 2023. Cal State LA has a busy weekend in store, with the squad being split between UCLA and Cal State San Marcos. Some members of the team will participate in the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival at UCLA on Friday. Others will take part in the Mangrum Invitational, hosted by Cal State San Marcos. This will serve as a preview of the 2023 CCAA Championships. More Cal State LA student-athletes will compete in the Rafer Johnson/Jackie JoynerKersee Invitational at UCLA on Saturday.
