For the second time in his career, Dom Navarrette has been selected as the CCAA Field Athlete of the Week. (Mar. 6-12)

Navarrette posted season-best marks in the shot put and the discus at the Ben Brown Invitational to move to the top of the 2023 CCAA Performance in both categories. 

The junior from Merced registered a mark of 50-0.5 (15.25m) in the shot put and a 163-5 (49.80m) in the discus. He sits one spot ahead of his teammate Aaron May in both events. 

Navarrette also registered a career-best throw of 158-2 (48.20m) in the hammer. 

He won the CCAA Field Athlete of the Week honors last year for the week of Mar. 28-Apr. 3 after setting a career-best mark in the discus 167-6 (51.06).

Navarrette's win gives CPP two consecutive CCAA Field Athletes of the Week (Matteo Madrassi). 

Cal Poly Pomona will be off this week before resuming its season at the Cougar Invitational, hosted by Cal State San Marcos on Mar. 25. The event will serve as a preview meet for the 2023 CCAA Championships.
