Otters' Cassie Gasper named CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week

Cal State Monterey Bay’s Cassie Gasper earned two wins and the CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of Mar. 6-12. 

Gasper picked up a pair of victories over two non-conference opponents and helped the Otters improve to 15-8 on the season (8-4 CCAA). The senior right-hander threw 12 innings, allowing seven hits and one run. She walked two and struck out 12. 

On Sunday against Minnesota State Moorhead, Gasper pitched a complete game giving up just five hits and an earned run. She struck out nine and walked two. The victory moved her to 8-4. 

Gasper also had a win against Academy of Art as she and Summer Voth combined on the shutout on Saturday. Gasper went the first five innings, giving up only two hits and no runs. She struck out three and did not walk a batter. 

The Merced native leads the CCAA with 10 complete games and 71 strikeouts. She is also fourth in earned run average (0.97) and WHIP (0.97).

This is the second career CCAA PItcher of the Week award for Gasper. She also won the opening week of the 2022 season. 

Cal State Monterey Bay will host nationally-ranked Sonoma State in a four-game series starting Friday, Mar. 17.
