Sonoma State’s Anna Zoia-Buescher hits .700 to earn CCAA weekly honors

Sonoma State’s Anna Zoia-Buescher claimed the first CCAA Softball Player of the Week honors of the 2023 season after leading the Seawolves to a pair of victories.

The senior outfielder hit .700 with a 1.927 on-base plus slugging percentage on the week. She finished the three games 7-for-10 with two doubles, a home run, four runs scored, and two stolen bases. 

Zoia-Buescher began the season by going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, three runs scored, and a stolen base in a 9-6 win against Saint Martin’s. Later that afternoon, the Santa Rosa native added another hit and a stolen base against Academy of Art. 

On Saturday, Zoia-Buescher posted another three-hit performance, going 3-or-4 and delivering a walk-off single to help SSU overcome a 2-1 seventh-inning deficit. She came to the plate with two outs and the bases loaded before lacing a single to left field to plate pinch-runner Charlie Johnson as the winning run. 
 
This is the second career CCAA Player of the Week honor for Zoia-Buescher. She earned her first last season for the week of April 18-24. 

Sonoma State will host Dominican in a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 10, before opening up conference play at San Francisco State on Friday, Feb. 17.
