Sonoma State Giana Hays has been selected as the CCAA Softball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 13-19.

The second baseman helped the Seawolves to an incredible conference-opening road sweep, outscoring SF State 39-0 in the four-game set. Hays led all SSU hitters with six hits and scored a pair of runs in each game of the series. She also helped the Seawolves take two games from Holy Names in an in-region contest. With the six wins last week, No. 25 Sonoma State improved to 10-1 (4-0 CCAA).

Hays finished the week 10-for-17 (.588 average) with three doubles, four RBI, three stolen bases, nine runs scored, and a .652 on-base percentage. She had a hit in all six games, including a three-hit performance against the Hawks to win 6-5 in extra innings.

The junior leads the team with a .452 average and 14 hits.

Hays is the second Sonoma State student-athlete named CCAA Player of the Week this season. She joins Anna Zoia-Buescher, who captured the honor the first week of the year after hitting .700 for the week.

The Seawolves will return home this week to host Stanislaus State (3-4, 1-3 CCAA) beginning on Friday, Feb. 24.
