CCAA sees four teams and six individuals finish with USTFCCCA All-Academic honors

The Men’s All-Academic Teams and All-Academic Athletes for the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country season were announced in late January by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
 
The teams at Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State East Bay, Cal State Monterey Bay, and San Francisco State all qualified for the honor. Teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, and compile a team score at their regional championship meet, among other qualifiers. Click here to see the USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams
 
It was the fourth consecutive season with All-Academic distinctions for San Francisco State, fifth for Cal Poly Pomona, and sixth for CCAA-leading Cal State East Bay. Cal State Monterey Bay was earning them for the first time since 2015.
 
Three student-athletes represented Cal Poly Pomona and Chico State as All-Academic Athletes. Thomas McDonnell, Vincent Sarino and Ricardo Vargas earned the honors for the Broncos. The Wildcats were represented on the exclusive USTFCCCA team by Rory Abberton, Brayden McLaughlin, and Joshua O'Neill. Click here to see all the USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.
 
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
