The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced its all-conference team and special award winners for the 2023 season prior to the semifinal round of the CCAA Men's Soccer Championships.
Six teams were represented among special award winners, highlighted by Cal State LA's
Oliver Diaz being named the CCAA Midfielder Player of the Year and the CCAA Player of the Year award, presented by College Ave Student Loans. Stanislaus State's
Tyler Tipton earned Forward of the Year, and Cal Poly Pomona's
Cesar Ruvalcaba was voted the Defender of the Year.
Emanual Padilla represented Chico State as the Goalkeeper of the Year. Freshman of the Year honors went to Cal Poly Humboldt's
Cooper Stephens.
The remaining special honors both went to Cal State Monterey Bay.
Kane Ritchie was voted Newcomer of the Year, and
Graeme Jaap was selected as the 2023 CCAA Coach of the Year.
Oliver Diaz led Cal State LA to a 15-1-1 regular season (10-1-0 CCAA) and the Golden Eagles' third CCAA Championship in the past four seasons. He played a critical role on both offense and defense, helping CSLA finish in the top 3 in both categories. Diaz scored four goals, including two game-winners. He scored in three straight matches in the middle of the season, including the lone goal in a 1-0 win over then No. 7 Cal Poly Pomona, which proved to be the difference for the 2023 championship. He also aided a defense that ranked fifth in NCAA Division II, allowing just 0.471 goals per match and was second in shutout percentage (.706).

CCAA Forward of the Year
Tyler Tipton was the conference's leading scorer, posting 14 goals in 18 matches. He had five more goals than anyone in the conference, and he finished eighth in the country. The sophomore from Sonora also paced the conference in points (28) and shot accuracy (.690). He had five multi-goal matches, and he started every match for the Warriors.
Emanual Padilla was a wall in goal all season for Chico State. He helped the Wildcats go from being picked fifth in the CCAA preseason poll all the way to No. 3 in the national rankings. He posted shutouts in the first six matches of the season. The junior ranked ninth in NCAA Division II with a .583 goals against average and fourth in save percentage (.855). He completed the regular season with 65 saves and nine shutouts (fourth NCAA). He is also second nationally in minutes played.

For his efforts in anchoring one of the best defensive units in the CCAA for the third consecutive season,
Cesar Ruvalcaba was voted the CCAA Defender of the Year. The senior from South Gate helped the Broncos allow only .765 goals per match as it led the CCAA and ranked seventh in the country with a plus-31 goal differential. Ruvalcaba played in every match, adding a goal and four assists as a defender.
Kane Ritchie made a significant impact in his first season as an Otter. The College of Charleston transfer scored seven goals and had three assists. He scored five goals in CSUMB's last four matches, including the game-winner in the first round of the CCAA Tournament to list the Otters to the program's first CCAA postseason victory. The team went 4-0-2 in matches where Ritchie posted a point.
Cooper Stephens became the first Lumberjack to ever with CCAA Men's Soccer Freshman of the Year honors. In his first season in Arcata, Stephens registered three goals and a pair of assists. Playing as a forward, he appeared in all 17 matches, making three starts.
Graeme Jaap led Cal State Monterey Bay to a program-record 12 wins en route to being named the 2023 CCAA Men's Soccer Coach of the Year. The Otters finished third in the standings, going 7-2-2, including 4-0-2 in road matches. He guided CSUMB to a No. 15 national ranking and a win over No. 6 Cal State LA. The Otters rank 13th in NCAA Div. II with a plus-25 goal differential and is 21st in total goals (41).
Ruvalcaba and Diaz were each joined by two teammates on the All-CCAA first team. Cal Poly Pomona led the conference with five members on the All-CCAA first or second team.
Paul Roger Henschke (F) and
Melvyn Perz Cortez (M) joined Ruvalcaba to represent Cal Poly Pomona.
Bryan Ortega (F) and
Andrew Portis (D) earned first team honors from Cal State LA. Other first team selections include
Curtis Collazos (MF, Cal State San Marcos),
Janos Kommerling (MF, Cal State Monterey Bay), and
Preston Moll (D, Chico State).
This is the third consecutive season Henschke and Ruvalcaba have each been voted first team All-CCAA by the conference coaches. Ortega, Diaz, and Perez Cortez are all repeat first team selections from last season. Collazos and Portis moved onto the first team after collecting an honorable mention in 2022.
