ORLANDO, Fla. - Junior forward
Zion Vaughn from Fresno Pacific University has been named the D2CIDA Men's Soccer National Player of the Week for his performance during the week of August 24-30.
Vaughn scored four goals (on five total shots), with two game-winners, in two matches to lead the Sunbirds to a pair of impressive wins versus Cal Poly Humboldt and at Menlo College during the Menlo Kickoff in Atherton, Calif.
The junior forward from Chandler, Ariz., recorded back-to-back braces to help FPU begin the CCAA era in high-scoring style. Against Humboldt on Thursday, Vaughn scored twice in the second half as the Sunbirds scored four unanswered goals in the 4-1 win. At Menlo on Saturday, he scored the first two goals to lift FPU to a 3-0 victory.
National Players of the Week are selected by a volunteer committee of Division II Conference Information Directors from a pool of nominations submitted by conference offices. Vaughn is the first CCAA student-athlete to receive this honor since Cal State LA's
Erick Alamo on Oct. 14, 2025.
