Seven more CCAA student-athletes captured All-American honors on Saturday at the NCAA Track & Field Championships.
Ayana Fields grabbed a pair of All-American honors with a second-place finish in the 400m and a third-place finish in the 200m. The sophomore opened the day with a time of 53.44 in the 400m to edge out third place by .05 seconds. It was even closer for Fields in the 200m, where she took the bronze medal by .01 seconds with a time of 23.54. The 14 points Fields collected, combined with Jade De Souza's four points from her fifth-place finish in the triple jump on Friday, helped Cal Poly Pomona earn a 13th place finish in the final standings.

Cal State LA's Leon Tafirenyika also earned a pair of All-America selections taking home first-team honors in the 400m and a second-team award in the 4x400m relay. The freshman from Harare, Zimbabwe, registered a time of 46.73, just .03 seconds off his PR, to place seventh. Then in the final men's race of the meet, he teamed up with Clifton Johnson, Shingirai Hlanguyo, and Jesus Nichol II to take ninth in the 4x400m with a time of 3:12.57. Cal State LA's story

Chico State's Rory Abberton can proudly hold up his All-American trophy after taking sixth place in the men's 1500m on Saturday. The senior from Torrance competed in the first men's race of the day, and he was ready to go from the start. Abberton ran a tactical race from the start and stayed calm, cool, and collected, even when three athletes went down all around him during a frenzied final lap. He finished with a time of 3:47.86.
Ryan Fields collected second-team All-American honors in the men's 110m hurdles with an 11th-place finish to give Cal Poly Pomona two All-Americans in the event (Alessia Sommacal).
In other action around the championships, Cal Poly Pomona's Ana Tovi placed 13th in the shot put with a mark of 46-7.25 (14.20m). Chico State's Amy Bell cleared 12-5.5 (3.80m) in the pole vault to tie for 16th.
Over the three-day NCAA Track & Field Championships, 12 CCAA student-athletes in 10 events collected All-American honors, including nine first-team selections. Cal Poly Pomona women led the way with three All-Americans.
