Cal State San Marcos' Nick Melanese and Stanislaus State's Trent Lauderdale have been selected to the 2025 Academic All-America® men's track & field team as voted on by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
 
Nick Melanese earned CSC Academic All-America second team honors for the second consecutive year after posting a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a graduate student majoring in Business Analytics. Melanese was a three-time USTFCCCA All-Region selection and the 2024 NCAA Elite 90 Winner for Men's Track & Field. In 2025, he placed fourth in the 800m at the CCAA Championships and third in the 1500m.
 
Trent Lauderdale collected third-team Academic All-America honors for the first time in his career. The graduate student, who has a perfect 4.0 gpa in Business school, was also a 2025 USTFCCCA All-American after placing fourth at the national championships in 400m hurdles. He set a program record with a time of 51.06 in the 400m hurdles and helped the Stanislaus State 4x100m relay team break a 43-year-old school record with a time of 40.65 at the CCAA Championships.
 
Melanese is only the third men's track & field student-athlete in CCAA history to collect CSC Academic All-America honors in consecutive seasons. He joins Kyle Lawson from Cal Poly Pomona and Wyatt Baxter from Chico State, who earned the honors in 2019 and 2020. Lauderdale is the third Academic All-American in Stanislaus State's program history, and the first since Abraham Alvarado in 2016. The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.
 
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), Academic All-America is the longest-running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges, and Canadian institutions. Since its inception in 1952, more than 40,000 student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions have earned these elite Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors.
