Eighteen CCAA softball student-athletes earned NFCA All-Region honors for the 2022 season. Nine placed their name on at least one of the first teams, and Cal State San Marcos' Paige Donnelly was named the D2CCA West Region Player of the Year.
Cal State San Marcos and Sonoma State paced the way with four selections apiece. Paige Donnelly, Bianca Gutierrez, Savannah Coyle, and Jayline Sloss represented the Cougars on both the NFCA and the D2CCA all-region teams. The Seawolves' Jordyn Martinez, Giana Hays, Camille Rodriguez, and Anna Zoia-Buescher's names all appeared on the NFCA second team.
Paige Donnelly helped lead Cal State San Marcos to the No. 1 seed and the right to host the NCAA West Regional en route to being named the 2022 D2CCA All-West Region Player of the Year. The redshirt freshman also ranked in the top 10 in hits (10th, 65), doubles (fourth, 16), home runs (T-eighth, 7), and on-base percentage (fifth, .451).
Savannah Coyle earned first team all-region honors as a utility/pitcher. The Oceanside native was named the CCAA Freshman of the Year for her contributions with the bat and in the circle. The left-hander ranked second in the conference in earned run average (1.44) and opponent batting average (.203). She was also sixth in strikeouts (19), fourth in wins (19), and led the league with five saves. Coyle hit .384 on the season, and her .441 on-base percentage ranked ninth.
Bianca Gutierrez claimed all-region first team honors as an outfielder. The redshirt freshman was ranked in the top 10 in the CCAA in batting average (.390), runs (41), hits (71), and at-bats. Gutierrez led CSUSM with 25 multi-hit games, seven more than her closest teammate. She also had a 10-game hitting streak, and she reached base in 15 consecutive games.
Jayline Sloss combined with Coyle to give Cal State San Marcos one of the top pitching duos in the region, and she was named to NFCA and D2CCA all-region teams. Sloss ranked fourth in the CCAA with a 1.90 earned run average and sixth with 16 wins. Opponents hit only .211 off the right-hander, and she struck out 88 batters. CSUSM went 22-6 with Sloss in the circle, including winning the first 10 games of her career.
Micaela Harris represented the CCAA as the first team all-region catcher for the NFCA and the D2CCA squads.
