Cal Poly Pomona’s Ana Tovi snags her third Women’s Field Athlete of the Week award

Ana Tovi of Cal Poly Pomona improved on her shot put distance, earning the Bronco her third CCAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week award.

At the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine, the sophomore from Upland, took first in the shot put with a throw of 14.47m, her outdoor personal best. The distance is an improvement of her NCAA Championships provisional qualifying mark, ranking her 12th in Division II. Tovi also moved up to No. 4 on the Cal Poly Pomona career list in the event.

Tovi also placed fourth in the discus throw on Saturday with a toss of 48.15m. She had already provisionally qualified in the discus with a 50.48 mark in February.

Tovi, who leads the CCAA in both shot put and discus throws, will be seeking gold medals at the CCAA Track & Field Championships, which begins on Thursday at San Francisco State.
