Savannah Bailey speeds to another Women’s Track Athlete of the Week award

For the second time this season, Savannah Bailey won three events in a meet en route to earning the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week award. This time for the week of April 18-24.

Bailey turned in the most productive day of her college career on Saturday at the Chico Invitation. The sophomore sprinter won three events in 200-meters, 400-meters and the 4x100-meter relay. 

The standout from Yuba City earned a NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time in the 400-meter race with her personal best of 55.39 seconds, which now ranks as the fourth fastest in program history.

Bailey also took the win in the 200-meter dash with a personal record of 24.93 seconds, the 10th best time in Wildcat history. To cap off her day, Bailey was part of the winning 4x100-meter relay team, teaming with Mckenzie Blair, Chloe Taylor and Nadia Torkman to post a time of 47.55 seconds, a seasonal best time by these Wildcats.

Bailey was the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for March 14-20 after winning the same three events, plus a second place finish with the 4x400-meter relay team, at the Wildcat Invitational.

The Wildcats will join the rest of the conference at the CCAA Track & Field Championships, May 5-8, at San Francisco State.
