Chico State’s Amy Bell vaults to Women’s Field Athlete of the Week selection

Amy Bell scored high for Chico State last Saturday, earning her Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors, for the week of April 18-24.

Bell won the pole vault event at the Chico Invitational, clearing the bar at 3.81 meters (12-foot, 6 inches) and tying her second-best height of the season. 

The junior from Moorpak had already posted a NCAA Championship provisional qualifier in the pole vault with a 4.00 meters clearance (13 feet, 1 ½ inches) posted earlier this month at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Also on Saturday, Bell was a fifth place finisher in the high jump with a leap of 1.46 meters, and placed 10th in the javelin with a heave of 30.47 meters.

The Wildcats will join the rest of the conference at the CCAA Track & Field Championships, May 5-8, at San Francisco State.
