Cal Poly Pomona’s Ayana Fields captures third Women's Track Athlete of the Week award

For the third time this season, Ayana Fields of Cal Poly Pomona has been named the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, this time for the week of April 3-10.

Fields, who also received this award last week, finished second in the 100-meter dash and was part of the winning 4x100-meter relay team at the UCSD Triton Invitational.

The sophomore from Los Angeles posted a personal best time of 11.48 seconds in the 100-meter dash as the top collegiate runner. The time is a NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time and currently the second best in Division II.

As the anchor of the relay team, Fields led the Broncos to a victory in a time of 46.88.

Fields won the weekly award for Feb. 21-27 when she won the 100-meter in 11.63 at the Rossi Relays. She was last week’s honoree after posting three provisional times.

Cal Poly Pomona will have a busy week competing in Southern California at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Mt. Sac Relays and Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach.
