Claudia Valencia earns CCAA Player of the Week

Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Claudia Valencia was named the CCAA Player of the Week for the week of April 4-10 giving the Toros their second straight win. 

Valencia hit .500 (7-14) in a four-game sweep of San Francisco State. The outfielder from Perris had a double, home run, seven RBI, five runs scored, and three stolen bases. She also reached base in all four games to extend her on-base streak to 25 straight games. 

Valencia had two hits and two RBI in each of the series' last three games. Her lone home run came in the second game when she also added two stolen bases. 

The senior now leads the CCAA with 60 hits. She is fourth in batting average (.414) and fifth in runs batted in (31). Valencia is also sixth in runs scored (32) and home runs (five).

The Toros (30-14, 18-10 CCAA) are tied for third in the CCAA standings with Sonoma State. They will host first-place Cal State San Marcos for a four-game set starting on Friday, April 15.
