Cal Poly Pomona’s Imani Williams repeats as Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

For the second straight week, Cal Poly Pomona’s Imani Williams has been named the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, this time for the week of March 21-27.

At the Titus and Ely Invitational at Irvine on Saturday, Williams improved on her NCAA Championship provisional qualifying mark in the long jump. This time she posted a meet-winning distance of 5.88 meters (19 feet, 3 ½ inches). The senior from Escondido extended her CCAA lead in the event and currently has the seventh-best mark in NCAA Division II.

Williams also finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.43 seconds.

Last week, Williams was named the CCAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week when she posted the provisional mark of 5.85 meters in the long jump at the Franson Classic at Azusa Pacific.

Cal Poly Pomona will be at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic this weekend at San Francisco State.
