Chico State sophomore Savannah Bailey sprinted her way to three wins and a runner-up finish, earning her the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week award for the week of March 14-20.
Bailey posted wins in the 200-meter dash, the 400-meter run and was part of the winning 4x100 meter relay team at the Wildcat Invitational at Chico State on Saturday. The speedster from Yuba City was also a member of the second place 4x400 meter relay team.
Bailey ran the fastest 400-meter time among CCAA runners so far this season in 56.82 seconds on Saturday. The time is also Chico State’s sixth fastest in program history and Bailey currently ranks seventh best in Division II. She also took top honors in the 200-meter dash with a seasonal best of 25.68.
As a part of both relay teams, Bailey also contributed. In the 4x100, with Mckenzie Blair, Chloe Taylor and Nadia Torkman, the Wildcats came in first in 48.76 seconds. Bailey then teamed with Taylor Lee, Danielle Bacon and Chloe Taylor, to place second in the 4x400 in 4:17.36.
Next on the Wildcats’ schedule is the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco March 31-April 2.
