Cal Poly Pomona’s Ryan Fields has already had quite a sophomore season, and he put together his best performance of the year at the Franson Classic en route to being named the CCAA Track Athlete of the Week for the week of March 14-20.

Fields broke a 15-year school record in the 400-meter hurdles with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 51.25. His time is the second-fastest on the 2022 NCAA Division II Performance List.

Fields also ran a provisional qualifying time in the 110m hurdles (14.09), which now leads all of Division II this year. He won both the 110m and 400m hurdle events at the Franson Classic.

This is the third CCAA Track Athlete of the Week award for Fields during the 2022 season and sixth in his career. He earned the honor back-to-back weeks earlier this season, on March 1 and March 8.

Cal Poly Pomona will continue its season this Saturday (March 26) at the Titus and Ely Meet, hosted by Concordia in Irvine, Calif.
