CCAA's best javelin toss nets Aries Harris the Field Athlete of the Week award Mar 15, 2022 Share: Complete list of past winners >>> Chico State’s Aries Harris has been named the CCAA Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for the week of March 7-13. Harris heaved the javelin 188-8 (57.51 meters), a new personal record, to win Saturday's Aggie Open, hosted by UC Davis. Harris' mark is the best in the CCAA by more than 20 feet and is less than a meter shy of the NCAA Provisional Qualifying standard of 58.38 meters. Harris is now 2-for-2 in the event in his first year with the Wildcats, having won the season-opening Kim Duyst Invitational as well with a heave of 180-0 (54.86m). Prior to coming to Chico State, Harris competed at Fresno City College in track and field—winning the Central Valley Conference title in the javelin—and football. This week, Chico State will be at home to host the Wildcat Invitational (March 18-19).
