With a pair of wins and qualifying marks, Cal Poly Pomona’s Ana Tovi has been tabbed Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, for the week of March 7-13.
Tovi won both the shot put and discus events at the Occidental Spring Break Classic on Saturday. Both distances surpassed the NCAA Championship provisional qualifying standards.
In the shot put, Tovi threw 14.25 meters (46 feet, 9 inches) to improve on her career best mark. She now ranks first in Division II.
In discus throw, the sophomore from Upland, tossed 47.42 meters (155 feet, 7 inches) in the win. She previously threw 50.48 meters which also ranked her first in Division II.
This was Tovi’s second Field Athlete of the Week award. She picked up the honor for Feb. 21-27 also with wins in the same two events at the Rossi Relays.
Next on the Cal Poly Pomona schedule is the Franzen Invitational at Azusa Pacific on March 19.
